Visual documentation on these uniforms:
Photo A
Dated 1889. Old Judge baseball card of K Nichols (89). Full view at left, detail view at right. Photo date confirmed as this was the only year Nichols played for team. Photo shows a striped shirt and dark pants, with white cap, belt and stockings. This uniform was described in an 1889 newspaper report as having navy blue stripes, navy blue pants and white stockings. Year Nichols with team from baseball-reference.com. Image scan from the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York.
Photo B
Dated 1889. Cabinet card of K Nichols (89). Full view at left, detail view at right. Photo date confirmed as this was the only year Nichols played for team. The similarity in the photo background and uniform to photo A may suggest both photos were made at the same time, however studio lighting on face of player does not match. Detail view shows subtle bands on the white cap and dark lettering across the chest. Color of lettering is unknown. Year Nichols with team from baseball-reference.com. Original photo by Heyn, Omaha.
Photo C
Dated 1889. Old Judge baseball card of T Nagle (88, 89). Full view at left, detail view at right. Photo date confirmed by photo background matching the baseball card of player Andrews, see photo D. 1889 was the only year both players played on the Omaha team together. Photo shows a light gray or light colored uniform, with dark cap, belt and stockings. The uniform style and shirt lettering was very similar to the 1888 light gray uniform of the Omaha team. Years Nagle with team from baseball-reference.com. Image scan from the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York.
Photo D
Dated 1889. Old Judge baseball card of W Andrews (89, 90). Full view at left, detail view at right. Photo date confirmed by photo background matching the baseball card of player Nagle, see photo C. 1889 was the only year both players played on the Omaha team together. Photo shows a light gray or light colored uniform, with dark cap, belt and stockings. Detail view shows dark lace ties above the city name. Years Andrews with team from baseball-reference.com. Image scan from the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York.
Photo E
Dated 1889. Old Judge baseball card of J Leighton (Omaha dnp, Quincy CIL 89). Full view at left, detail view at right. Photo date may be confirmed by photo background matching that of photos C and D. Leighton did not play for Omaha in his career and it can be speculated that this photo, along with photos C and D, were made before the start of the 1889 season and that Leighton was subsequently released before the season began. Leighton career info from baseball-reference.com. Image scan from the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York.
